Like a towering tree: a straight trunk holding out branches that spread outward.

The Day Master is the heavenly stem of your day pillar and the centre of a BaZi chart: every other character is read as a relationship to it. Jia appears as a Day Master in 甲子, 甲戌, 甲申, 甲午, 甲辰 and 甲寅, one for each branch it can sit on.

Nature

Jia is wood that grows upward and outward — the tree rather than the vine. Its instinct is to become useful: timber, shade, a trunk that holds its line in wind. People with this Day Master tend to measure themselves by whether they grew, not by whether they were comfortable, and they usually prefer a clear principle to a convenient compromise.

Strengths

Direction, generosity, and the stamina to hold a long course while others change their minds.

Where it strains

Rigidity. When growth stalls, Jia can mistake stubbornness for integrity and keep standing in the wrong place.

Work and vocation

Founding, leadership, law, teaching, construction, or stewardship of something that must outlast them.

Relationships

Protective and unmistakably loyal. The risk is deciding what is good for someone before asking them.

The six Jia day pillars

A Day Master meets six different branches across the sixty-year cycle. Each pairing changes the tone of the stem, so read the one that matches your birth day.
