Like steady drizzle, falling on plants and soaking drop by drop into the soil.
The Day Master is the heavenly stem of your day pillar and the centre of a BaZi chart: every other character is read as a relationship to it. Gui appears as a Day Master in 癸酉, 癸未, 癸巳, 癸卯, 癸丑 and 癸亥, one for each branch it can sit on.
Nature
Gui is quiet water: rain, dew, mist, groundwater. It works by permeation rather than force, and it reaches places a river never could. This Day Master is intuitive and receptive, absorbs atmosphere quickly, and often understands a situation long before it can explain the reasoning.
Strengths
Insight, sensitivity, and the patience to influence something slowly and completely.
Where it strains
Absorption. Gui can take on other people’s weather and call it mood, and can wait too long to state a boundary.
Work and vocation
Writing, design, therapy, research, or hospitality — work that rewards sensitivity and punishes constant noise.
Relationships
Attuned and gentle, and inclined to wait rather than ask. Naming a need early prevents quiet resentment.
The six Gui day pillars
A Day Master meets six different branches across the sixty-year cycle. Each pairing changes the tone of the stem, so read the one that matches your birth day.

You do not need to work it out by hand. Enter your birth date, time and place, and the calculator returns all four pillars along with your Day Master and five-element balance.
