Like a fine blade, valued for sharpness and the details of craftsmanship.
The Day Master is the heavenly stem of your day pillar and the centre of a BaZi chart: every other character is read as a relationship to it. Xin appears as a Day Master in 辛未, 辛巳, 辛卯, 辛丑, 辛亥 and 辛酉, one for each branch it can sit on.
Nature
Xin is worked metal: the blade, the mirror, the instrument. Where Geng decides, Xin discriminates. This Day Master has a sharp eye for quality and fairness, and notices what is wrong before noticing what is right. That makes for excellent taste and occasionally difficult company.
Strengths
Precision, aesthetic judgement, and an unwillingness to accept "almost right".
Where it strains
Perfectionism that reads as coldness. Xin can correct what it loves and forget to praise it.
Work and vocation
Design, editing, law, finance, medicine, curation, or fine craft — work judged on detail.
Relationships
Devoted and exacting. Appreciation spoken aloud matters more than you assume; no one can infer approval from the absence of criticism.
The six Xin day pillars
A Day Master meets six different branches across the sixty-year cycle. Each pairing changes the tone of the stem, so read the one that matches your birth day.
Find your Day Master
You do not need to work it out by hand. Enter your birth date, time and place, and the calculator returns all four pillars along with your Day Master and five-element balance.
